2021 Visionary Artist
Robert Patterson

Robert Patterson makes objects using wood, metals, cloth, paper, resins, paint, dyes, glazes, leather, and varnish. With inspiration from his father and grandfather as woodworkers, the fundamental respect for slow work, combined with university study and degrees in studio work, give rise to his working procedure. The production of his work has always been concerned with seriality, the slow and methodical exploration of iteration and modulation. Though his objects are functional, his concern is for the visual and tactile presentation rather than any implied utility. Patterson has his BA from University of North Carolina and his MA from the University of Georgia. He currently resides in Milton, Georgia.
